About Us

Murdo’s Aten Resort, originally named Aten’s Fishing Resort, was opened by Bud & Hazel Rurup in the mid-1950’s. Aten’s sold bait and fishing tackle and rented cabins, along with their now locally famous restaurant. Aten’s was purchased by Jerry & Naomi Tramp in 1969 and then Badger (Greg) & Lori Bailey in 1976. This was when Aten’s became well known for selling fish and their fish fry Friday nights. In 1990, Don Edwards (better known as Murdo) joined into the Aten’s family, which officially became Murdo’s in 1994.

Located on the Nebraska Bank of the Missouri River, with stunning riverside views of Gavins Point Dam, Yankton and the Missouri River, Murdo’s offers fish, steaks, seafood, burgers, chicken, salads, desserts, drinks and more!

Brad Bohnet purchased Murdo’s in 2015, and the most recent owners, Lauren Soukup and Ramiro Nino, have been running the restaurant since 2019.
